City Press has established that SA Police Service (SAPS) members at the Diepkloof Police Station in Soweto are facing allegations of theft after more than R100 000 allegedly went missing after two vandalised ATMs were recovered by the police during the looting spree and taken to the station for safekeeping.
This is according to a complaint laid by Absa Bankforensic expert Daniel de Wet through a report sent to Gauteng police commissioner Lieutenant General Elias Mawela.
